About Me
When my husband suggested I start a blog, I immediately dismissed the idea thinking, “that’s dumb, who the hell wants advice from me?”. However, the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I have been the go-to person at work and with friends/family for pet and veterinary information, advice, and recommendations for the past 14 years.
So let me tell you a bit about myself. My husband and I have been together for 14 years, married for almost 13 years. We have been a 3-dog household for 14 years, starting with a pug named Wrinkles and two dogs belonging to roommates. Soon, those roommates moved out and we welcomed Sox (mutt) and Leroy (mutt), as well as two cats Otie and Geo. Through the years we have had multiple pets come and go through our lives, including foster pets. The only pet remaining from the original 5 is Sox who is now over 14 years old. Our household is currently the home to Sox, Biscuit (pug), Bleu (border collie), and Meatball (cat).
My career with companion animals started with the local humane society as a kennel technician, then volunteer coordinator. After moving states, I worked a short period of time at a dog boarding and daycare facility before beginning a career as a Veterinary Technician 10 years ago. I have worked in general practice, emergency, and internal medicine. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Interpretive Biology and Natural History in 2010, I became a Certified Veterinary Technician, as well as earning certificates in Fear Free, Low Stress Handling, Small Animal Natural Nutrition, and RECOVER CPR. I have also attended hundreds of hours of continuing education courses on a large variety of topics. So, who better to answer your pet questions than me?
My hope for this blog is that you enjoy reading it and that I can answer the questions that your overworked and underpaid veterinary staff simply do not have time to answer.
